1st Rare Disease Summer School

The 1st Rare Diseases Summer School was attended by 30 participants coming from 5 different countries (Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland). Approximately half of the participants were working on a PhD, half with a medical background, half with a natural science background, one with a psychology, and one with a public health background.

The summer school contained lectures, interactive workshops, presentation of the workshop results by participants, and posters by the participants.

The participants rated the summer school very highly in their evaluations.

50% of the people who participated in the summer school 2013 and took part in a follow‐up survey, have concrete collaborations with other participants, therefore demonstrating the potential of the Summer School in promoting networking and research in the field of rare diseases.
